About Us

The East Prince Agri-Environment Association (EPAA) is a grassroots organization that was formed in 2014 by a group of producers who joined together to find better ways to manage their on-farm practices.

With mounting pressures from erratic weather patterns, negative public perception of industry practices, and increasing costs of production, these producers took matters into their own hands to seek information for making more informed management decisions. Over the past 9 years, our group has led projects that pair researchers, industry partners, and farmers directly to answer questions that help producers to better manage their resources.

Through partnerships with watershed groups, agronomists, government agencies, and other commodity organizations we are able to help farmers across the province participate in research trials to develop new beneficial management practices (BMPs). EPAA has been recognized provincially and nationally for the agri-environmental initiatives it has led with local researchers and academia. In 2019, the EPAA signed a contribution agreement with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to lead Living Lab – Atlantic. This initiative allowed us to bring together even more partners to engage with farmers to co-develop and collaborate on research initiatives. We have become better connected within the agricultural industry of this province and have made many enhancements to our farming practices due to information garnered through the Living Lab trials.
